INSPIRATION STORY
SAREE
Les Cinéphiles pays homage to the Golden Age of Cinema..the 1930s and 40s, when The Talkies took over the collective consciousness all over the globe, when movie stars became icons of cultural change, the toast of society soirees, the new royals of the 20th century. A time when everyone, be it the bourgeois homemaker, the haute société debutante, the young ingénue or the new wave of working class women, aspired to emulate the actors and the characters they saw on the cinema screens. Diaphanous sarees in shades of soft ivory and aqua, vivid green and inky blacks; dripping with paillettes, sequins and crystals are paired with beaded blouses while the lehengas wrought on fragile tulle, showcase a unique cutwork technique using traditional Indian crafts such as zardozi and marodi ka kaam, creating an effect akin to the finest of hand made laces. Les Cinéphiles, is an ode to the glamorous dreams woven by the magic of cinema and the people who brought them to life.SAREELes Cinéphiles pays homage to the Golden Age of Cinema..the 1930s and 40s, when The Talkies took over the collective consciousness all over the globe, when movie stars became icons of cultural change, the toast of society soirees, the new royals of the 20th century.
